  • Condition: Pre-owned large tapestry from Honduras. Good shape and color vivid, found rolled up with cedar balls to preserve, can still see the indentations from them didn't brush them out yet, just need to ruffle the loop around to spread threads out. A wonderful bright and cheery piece, excellent for a focal point for any room. The back feels like a starched waxy type finish which has kept this piece in great condition and I believe it has been rolled up for some time which again has preserved the color. Has 3 eyelet stainless screws to hang the piece. They are attached to a 3" board that runs across the top and the textile hangs from the board. There is no board on the bottom. The piece has a backing and is finished with a type of burlap on the edges and is sealed like I said before with a solid but pliable starchy film which stiffens the piece but remains pliable enough to roll up. The loops are approx. 1" long throughout the whole piece. Initial signed on bottom left, L.R., Unknown.

    Description

    This is a hand-made piece from Honduras, not sure of age but items found tend to be from the late 70's early 80's.
    Done with bright colors and large loops in what I think is probably hand dyed wool thread.
    Piece is mounted on 3 inch board on top where 3 eyelets screws are attached for hanging.
    Wall hanging measures 4' 9" x 6' 11".
    Backing is done in their native process of which I don't know exactly, just know it feels heavy starchy but pliable enough to have the piece roll up easily, not crackly.
    This piece was found with cedar balls placed randomly on the carpet for preservation and I think they worked.  I forgot to ruffle the spots where they were so if you see indentations it's from the cedar balls and I didn't ruffle the rug up yet.  I was busy taking pictures of this beautiful piece.
    Going to offer this piece for local pick up first to avoid having to ship it. 92843 near Disneyland, CA.
