This listing is for the 7.25"x11.5" paper with handwritten Patriotic American poem.    Hand-colored wreath in green accents the brownish ink.
The poem is called "Ode to Freedom".    It is signed Lucy Ann Slocomb, Aged 12 Yers
It seems to reference maybe the revolutionary war and has a religious message.
The penmanship is beautiful for a 12 year old.
This paper is either from the late 1700s or early 1800s.
Fair freedom blissful child of heaven
Today we celebrate thy birth
Thou richest gift to mortals given
Those magi bright of heaven on earth
Hail Happy land of helth and peace
Remote from europes blood stain shore
Far far beyond protecting seas
Waves roll between and ever roar
Paper is yellowed and somewhat fragile, especially at folds.
Lovely early americana art.
Excellent heritage piece to frame too!
