    Description

Madeleine Colaço (1907-2002) Framed Fiber Art.
    * PLEASE SEE PHOTOS OF MADELEINE COLAÇO’S BIO
Madeleine was born in 1907 in France. She lived with her French-American parents in Morocco growing up. She married writer Ribeiro Colaço and lived with him in Brazil from 1940 until her death in 2002.
Madeleine’s work incorporates the “Brazilian Stitch”, which she herself developed.
Although her work is well known in Europe and South America, it is represented in the collections of Pope John Paul Ii, Dame Margot Fonteyn, Jimmy Carter, and The Louvre.
This piece is in like-new condition. It is currently framed in a brushed blue-silver frame and mounted on natural linen. The art work is 12.5”Wx23.75”H. And the frame is 20”Wx31.5”H.
I bought this in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil in the mid-1980s. It is signed in the lower right corner, as seen in the photos. I do not have any documentation of authenticity.
