Wonderful artisan piece by acclaimed jewelry artist Cathleen Mclain. Large piece with lots of sterling, nice weight! Last pics highlight the Turitella (small shells embedded in agate) stone.
Large, gorgeous stone has a small imperfection as seen in pic 1, not a crack but rather a hairline demarcation(s) on the left side showcased in the light so that it could be seen clearly, small pinhole in the same area. I think the stone was set, as is, after polishing, as part of the style of the brooch. It does not detract from the beauty of the piece.
